Trisha Plays as a foreign professional

Posted on by

Trisha is playing Maya, an Indian girl working in a foreign country, in ‘Samaran’, which has Vishal in the lead role. The film is being directed by Thiru, who earlier delivered ‘Theeradha Vilayattu Pillai’.

“What starts as friendship between Vishal and Trisha blossoms into love. Though this sounds cliched, we have given a different treatment to the screenplay,” says the director, who is optimistic about the movie’s success.

He adds: “Trisha will dub on her own for Samaran. There is one more heroine, Sunaina. She plays a girl from a rich family in Ooty. There is no connection between the characters of Trisha and Sunaina as per the script. But there are some interesting things.”

Recently, some crucial scenes for the movie were shot in Ooty. The cast and crew of ‘Samaran’ will soon leave to a couple of foreign countries to shoot the songs and stunt sequences for this action entertainer.

3 movie Review

Movie

3

Director
Aishwarya R Dhanush

Music
Anirudh

Cast
Dhanush, Shruti, Prabhu, Sundar, Siva Karthikeyan

Most good films will engage you with their characters and their drama. Aishwarya Dhanush has an admirable debut as director and her much hyped Moonru (3) has an outstanding first half, loses some of its steam in the second half, but ends up as an honourable film which is quite poignant.

3 is a moving drama that will undoubtedly leave you with a lump in your throat. Intuitively written by Aishwarya herself, it is emotional and sure to leave you teary-eyed. Much of the credit for that must go to the protagonist played by Dhanush who delivers a measured performance in a myriad role.

The film keeps you engaged on the strength of its plot, as it does for the interesting characters who inhabit it. The first half is poetic and takes you on a journey through the love story of Ram (Dhanush) and Janani (Shruthi) who are 12th standard students. The romance has a slow build-up and an earthy charm.

The scenes between Ram and the delicate Janani, played by a Shruthi are a scream. Silences convey so much more than irreverent banter, and nowhere is this more evident than in the interactions between the lovely pair whose romance is told through their eyes and longing expressions.

For Dhanush, 3 is yet another milestone in acting. Investing in him a boyish charm, he exploits the role with full-blown impact. He effortlessly pulls off the restless, charming Ram and brings depth to his character. Aishwarya has brought the best out of Shruti in her school portions but she tends to overact, especially in the crying scenes towards the end.

Siva Karthikeyan as Kumaran and Sundar as Senthil, Ram’s friends never miss a beat. Prepare to be pleasantly surprised by the supporting cast and watch how cleverly Aishwarya uses them. It’s a joy to watch veterans like Prabhu, Bhanupriya and Rohini.

An impressive achievement both in writing and direction, the film is full of fine nuances and sharp observations that stay with you. Comedy and romance are beautifully weaved into the story in a realistic manner.

Songs by Anirudh are a major plus for the film and they go with the flow of the story. The most anticipated Kolaveri number does not overshadow the narration and is picturised in a simple manner by Aishwarya, without any gimmicks. TheKannazhaga and Podi Po stays with you even after the film is over.

Velraj’s camera is good while Kola Bhaskar could have made the film crisp in the climax. On the whole, 3 has its heart in the right place, though the second half seem scattered. Overlook these faults, and make it a point to watch 3.

Aravan is a crucial film for me- Aadhi

Posted on by

His Aravan is releasing this Friday (March 2). It is a big test for Aadhi after doing films likeMirugam and Eeram. For the budding actor it is his big ticket to stardom. Catching up with Aadhi, Sify.com finds out why this movie is special to the actor.

Why is Aravan important to you?
People have come to recognize me and have some expectations from me as an actor. WithAravan I hope to live up to those expectations. It’s a crucial film for me to establish myself firmly as a saleable artist. I will cherish this experience forever.  I have done many things in the film which I have not done before. Plus the experience of working with Vasanthabalan was very inspiring.

What is your character like?
I play a man called Varipuli.  Aravan is a time travel and traces his journey. It’s a touching emotional film and hopefully my character will leave a lasting impression!

What can audiences look forward to in the film?
It’s a period film dealing with the lives of these characters who lived 300years ago. But people can relate to them, and experience theiremotions, pain, love and tribulations and travel with them as they gothrough  their lives. It’s a riveting story told in a wonderfulway by Vasanthabalan.

You had a tough time during the shoot. Tell us about that.
Yes, all of us worked very hard. We had to shoot in the hot sun, in forests, on rocky surfaces and even under waterfalls. Hardly a day passed without injury of some sort and feet were mostly full of cuts and bruises since we had to go barefoot. The most unforgettable moment was the shoot at the Hogenekkal falls where I had to jump into the water from a height of 150 feet into the swirling waters below! Of course wehad safety equipment in place but just jumping into those dangerous waters with the force of the falls behind you and then balancing on a rock for the  climax episode, is something I can never forget!

What are  your future projects?
I am working in Maranthen Manippen which is a bi-lingual in Tamil and Telugu apart from Kochadaiyaan, with Rajni sir.

Late Nagesh’s special appeareance in Rajini’s Kochadaiyaan

Yesteryear’s ace comedian Nagesh might just be making a very ‘special appearance’ in superstarRajinikanth’s upcoming film Kochadaiyaan to be directed by the superstar’s younger daughter Soundarya. Any idea as to how could Nagesh, who passed away a few years back, could be back in action for the Rajini-starrer? Read on to find out!

Billed to be a 3-dimensional animation film to be filmed using the ‘motion capturing technique’,Kochadaiyaan pairs Rajini opposite Bollywood hottie Deepika Padukone, who was paired opposite him in the abandoned Rana too. The film, to be the first-of-its-kind in the country, has aroused great expectation and curiosite amid the superstar’s millions of fans worldwide who prayed for his reovery when he was down with illness last year.

Computer-generated graphic sequences would be used in the film extensively. Among the graphic sequences are some sequences featuring the comedian par excellence, the late Nagesh. Movie-buffs would be aware of the achievements ofNagesh, who had acted along with legends like MGR, Sivaji Ganesan and most of the heroes of the olden era. Rajini and Nagesh had earlier starred together in films like Thillumullu and Padikkathavan.

Nagesh would be appearing in ‘dual roles’ to assist the dual Rajinis who’d be seen in the film as per the script. One of them would be the Kadhalikka Neramillai Nagesh while the other would be thePanchathanthiram Nagesh. The graphics team is said to be working over-time in ensuring that sequences featuring Nagesh and Rajini turn out to be one of the highlights of the film!

The film also has some huge names associated with it. Besides the lead pair, otheres part of the cast include Jackie Shroff, Sarath Kumar, Aadhi, Shobana to name a few. Music is taken care of by A.R. Rahman while K.S. Ravikumar would be penning the story, screenplay and dialogues besides supervising Soundarya’s direction.

Big B’s message to Suriya

Big B’s message to Suriya

Actor Suriya impresses television audience with the very first episode of Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi.

Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan, SRK and Salman Khan have all hosted shows of their own, but down south, Suriya is the first actor to take up hosting.

Apparently, before accepting the KBC Tamil version offer, Suriya had met Amitabh on the sets of KBC and spent a whole day watching him host the show. He had interacted with Big B about the show and it was Amitabh who’d inspired him to do the show in Tamil.

Amitabh had insisted that he take up the KBC Tamil version as he felt that it was an excellent medium to connect directly with the audience. In fact, there was a cute message from Big B to Suriya telling him to rock on the show.

Sriram from Vijay TV says, “Suriya is a perfectionist. He wanted to know all about the show and watch the shooting before he committed to it. We spent a day on the sets of KBC in Mumbai as a learning session. It was good to watch Suriya spending time on the sets amidst his busy film shootings.”
